Renewing the Electrician Certification Card

The Electrician Certification card is valid for three years. To renew, you must work at least 2,000 hours in the industry complete 32 hours of Continuous Education within these 3 years.

Time to renew your Certification Card?

  • Step 1 - Work 2,000 hours in the industry and sign up and complete 32 hours of Continuous Education from an approved educational provider. To view our available courses, Click Here.
  • Step 2 - (If courses were completed through CET) CET will email you the completion letter and renewal registration form for each course completed.
  • Step 3 - Print the paperwork and complete the renewal form.
  • Step 4 - Submit the paperwork and renewal fee ($100) to the DIR, the address is on the registration form. Note: If you do not submit your paperwork before the expiration date, you will lose your certification and have to pay to retake the exam to get reinstated.
  • Step 5 - The State will inform you in writing if your card has been renewed or if they require any additional information.
