Course Content:

Advanced Lighting Controls will cover the fundamentals of:

  • The parts and pieces of a lighting control system
    • Power packs, relays, and dimming module
    • Area Controls
    • Multi-level Controls
    • Shut-off Controls
    • Daylight Harvesting Controls
    • Controlled Receptacles
  • Basic overview of Title 24, Part 6 Lighting Code
    • Mandatory Indoor Lighting Controls Section 130.1


Hands-on Lab:

  • Programing a Lutron Vive standalone system using:
    • PowPak Wireless Fixture Control
    • Pico Remote Control
    • Maestro Vive Dimmer
    • Occupancy sensor
    • Daylight Harvesting Wireless
    • Receptacle Control
  • Programming a nLight standalone system with the Bluetooth low energy commission communication module (nIO BT)
    • Power Pack Relay
    • Wallpod Dimmer/Occupancy sensor
    • Daylight Harvesting
    • Emergency Relay Pack


It is recommended to take Basic Lighting Controls lab before this class.



  • Must wear pants, not shorts
  • Must wear closed-toed shoes
